Tips for the parmesan salad recipe
- We like shallot for its mildness, sweetness, and nice crunch. If you like bolder flavor, use thinly sliced red onions that you’ve soaked in cold water instead.
- Use freshly grated parmesan cheese for the chopped salad. It’s way better than store-bought pre-shredded parmesan sold in plastic cans.
- Add more veggies and croutons to make your chopped salad more substantial.
- Romaine lettuce starts to wilt pretty fast after it’s dressed, so we like to serve this salad immediately.
What to serve with parmesan chopped salad
There are many ways to serve your parmesan salad. Enjoy on its own with a slice of garlic bread, pair it with a pasta dish or a home-baked pizza, or top it with your favorite protein: grilled chicken, roasted salmon, steak strips…
How to keep the chopped salad leftovers
Keep any chopped salad leftovers in an airtight container. Keep refrigerated for up to 3 days.

Love this salad! I make it for lunch a lot. I add about 1/3 cup rinsed and drained canned chickpeas and a few ounces of julienned salami to add some protein. So good!

Excellent. Even my husband, who is a honey mustard salad dressing person loved it. I used leeks instead of onion. I am glad I added the red chilis, just a touch It gave it a punch.

Love this recipe! Have made it a handful of times. Light, yet favorable! My favorite way to eat it is topped with prosciutto!
